About Willowdale Children’s Academy
Willowdale Children’s Academy is a Keystone STAR 4 School, offering a premier educational child care experience. We provide year-round programs for children ranging from infants to early elementary-aged students, ensuring a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for every child.
Primary Responsibilities
As a Teacher at Willowdale, you will:
- Supervise and manage the daily functions of a classroom, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for children.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and regulatory guidelines set by Willowdale Children’s Academy and local, state, or national agencies.
- Assess and monitor each child’s developmental progress on an ongoing basis.
- Implement approved lesson plans and daily schedules in alignment with the Willowdale Proprietary Curriculum.
- Collaborate with the Director to plan parent-teacher conferences and student evaluations.
- Create and maintain an inviting, well-organized classroom that encourages creativity, exploration, and confident decision-making.
- Provide positive reinforcement, clear expectations, and consistent guidance to support children’s behavior and growth.
- Take responsibility for classroom maintenance, including housekeeping duties in shared spaces and playgrounds.
- Attend all required staff meetings, workshops, and school events.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the guidelines outlined in the Willowdale Children’s Academy Employee Handbook.
- Assist with additional tasks as determined by the Director.
Desired Skills and Experience
Education & Experience:
- Infant - Preschool Teachers: Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or a CDA credential. Prior documented experience with infants is required for infant classrooms.
- Pre-Kindergarten Teachers: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (preferred), or an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Part-Time Floaters: High school diploma required, with documented experience working with children. Completion of education-related coursework is a plus.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Understanding of the social, emotional, and creative needs of young children.
- Ability to implement developmentally appropriate practices and foster a positive learning environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. to ensure child safety and facilitate programs.
- For Infant and Young Toddler Teachers: Ability to safely lift infants in and out of cribs.
